Activities of Laurel Victoria Gray
1979 Bakhor Ensemble with Guest Artist Kizlarkhon Dusmukhamedova at Seattle University
1979 Joined Seattle-Tashkent Sister City Committee
1983 Organized Tashkent Day concert at Seattle’s Museum of History and Industry
1984 Created Uzbek choreography for Ethnic Dance Theatre of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
1984 Trip to Uzbekistan with Seattle Mayor Charles Royer and the Seattle Tashkent Sister city
1985 Trip to Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Uzbek Vatan Society for Countrymen Living Abroad
1988 Lead delegation of the Uzbek Culture Society at the invitation of the Union of Theatrical Workers
1989 Organized the “Artists of Uzbekistan” tour featuring Kizlarkhon Dusmukhamedova, Shakir Akhmedova, and Habibulla Rasulov, with performances in at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, San Marcos, Texas, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Head of Delegation for the Seattle Soviet Theatre Arts Exchange at the Invitation of the Union of Theatrical Workers. Included performances at Bakhor Concert Hall, Ilkhom Theatre, Tashkent Circus. Musical Theatre, and television appearances.
1990 Organized West Coast tour for the Uzbekistan Folklore Ensemble with performances at the University of Washington (Meany Hall),
in Tacoma, and at the University of California at Berkeley, in conjunction with the Goodwill Games
1992 Traveled to Uzbekistan onboard the Antanov AN-124 Ruslan military transport from Seattle to Anchorage to Tashkent as part of the Russia Winters humanitarian aid project to deliver medical equipment and aid. Also delivered fabric and trim as part of the “Sequins for Peace” project of the Uzbek Dance and Culture Society.
1995 Founded Silk Road Dance Company in Washington, including Uzbek dances in repertoire.
Presented “Splendors of the Silk Road”lecture and fashion show of Central Asian costumes at the Middle East Institute, attended by Uzbek Ambassador Fatikh Teshabaev.
1996 Performance for Uzbek President Islam Karimov held at the inaugural of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. President Karimov presented her with gold-embroidered coat. Photo below.

Premiere of concert work “Haft Paykar: Seven Beauties,” based on epic poem by Nizami Ganjavi. The “Khorezm Princess of the Green Pavillion” performed Khorezm Uzbek dance in this production.

2008 Legends of the Silk Road concert at the Publick Playhouse Theater.
2009 13th Central Asian Dance Camp held in Washington, DC area with guest teacher People’s Artist of Uzbekistan, Kizlarkhon Dusmukhamedova.
Fulbright Association award for the International Dance Scholarship Lecture given to Laurel Victoria Gray for her presentation on the 1989 Seattle Soviet Theatre Arts Exchange delegation to Tashkent.
2011 Performance at the bi-annual Tirgan Festival in Toronto, Canada. Performance includes Uzbek dance Dil Kroch choreographed by Kadyr Muminov. Photo below.
2011 14th Central Asian Dance Camp held at Joe’s Movement Emporium.
Performed Uzbek dance in Doha, Qatar, as part of festivities for the Asia Cup. First match was Uzbekistan vs. Qatar. Uzbek team saw ikat costumes of dances from their bus traveling to the stadium. They won the opening match against the home team from Qatar. Photo below.
